New Qt 5.7.1, Qt 5.8 Beta Snapshots Released

The Qt Company has made available new snapshots for testing of upcoming releases for the Qt tool-kit.

For those sticking to the Qt 5.7 series currently, a new pre-release snapshot is available of the upcoming Qt 5.7.1 release as the first big collection of bug-fixes for this point release. Today's Qt 5.7.1 snapshot packages can be found here.

Jani Heikkinen of The Qt Company also today announced some test packages for the upcoming Qt 5.8 Beta. The Qt 5.8 release is currnetly running behind schedule with that beta supposed to have come back on 4 October. Their updated plan puts it as coming on "week 43", which is this week.

Qt 5.8 has been working on an experimental Direct3D 12 back-end for Qt Quick, new Qt Quick Controls 2 additions, Qt WebEngine upgrades, Bluetooth Low Energy improvements, Qt Network improvements, embedded support improvements, and more. New modules for Qt 5.8 coming are the Qt Wayland Compositor, Qt SCXML, Qt Serial Bus, and new platform support is for Apple tvOS and watchOS. There are also technology previews of Qt Gamepad, Qt Speech, and Qt Network Authentication. The work-in-progress features for Qt 5.8 can be found via this Wiki page.
