AMD EPYC 7251 Provides Great Value At Less Than $500 USD
Moving onto John The Ripper with its Blowfish crypto test, the EPYC 7251 comes out 17% faster than the Xeon Silver 4108 competition.
With the TTSIOD 3D renderer, the higher clock speeds of the Xeon E3 v5 CPUs were of more benefit than the greater core/thread counts, but even here the EPYC 7251 is much faster than the Xeon Silver 4108.
The EPYC 7251 also does very well with x264 video encoding.
And squeezes past the Xeon Silver comparable CPU with the 7-Zip compression benchmark.
With the asmFish Assembly-written, highly-threaded chess engine, the EPYC 7251 comes out at 15% ahead of the Silver 4108.
