With ET: Legacy that is allowing RTCW: Enemy Territory live on as open-source there wasn't much to see out of the results... The X.Org server performance was ever so slightly faster than the (X)Wayland-based experience on the RX 580, but no real difference on the more powerful Vega graphics card.

With the more basic OpenArena test case, the X.Org Server performance remained faster than the (X)Wayland performance while between GNOME 3.28 and 3.30 there was no real difference.

And under the Tesseract open-source first person shooter, the X.Org-based GNOME Shell session was a few frames faster but no meaningful difference on these high-end Radeon graphics cards.
