NVIDIA's Jetson AGX Xavier Carmel Performance vs. Low-Power x86 Processors
The Core i7 4600U Haswell system with its LPDDR3-1600 memory saw around the same performance as the Xavier with its LPDDR4 memory. The newer Kabylake Core CPUs with their DDR4 memory saw much faster memory performance.
In the MBW memory benchmark, the Xavier's memory performance isn't too far behind the Kabylake processors.
Under MBW with a fixed block size for the memory copy performance, the Xavier managed to actually come out in front. The memory performance of the Jetson AGX Xavier is certainly much greater than that of the previous-generation Jetson TX2.
With the LeelaChessZero benchmark using BLAS for running on the CPUs under test, this deep learning chess benchmark saw the Intel Core CPUs delivering much better performance than the Xavier Carmel CPU cores.
In the case of the MAFFT scientific application, the Xavier's eight Carmel CPU cores managed to beat out the x86_64 low-power processors available for testing.
