NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Linux Gaming Performance
First up was Batman: Arkham Knight that runs on Linux via Steam Play. At 4K with high quality settings the RTX 3080 could deliver above a 120 FPS average. The 127 FPS average is 65% higher than that of the RTX 3080 and 76% in relation to the Radeon VII... It will be interesting though to see where Big Navi comes in the weeks ahead.
The RTX 3080 did consume the most power during this game run with a 239 Watt average and 321 Watt peak...
But on a performance-per-Watt basis it had a narrow lead in front of the Radeon VII for actually yielding the best efficiency.
The cooling on the RTX 3080 Founder's Edition did well even with the higher power consumption with just a few degrees more than the other graphics cards or even less than the TITAN RTX / RTX 2080 / RX 5700 XT graphics cards under test.
If you can find the RTX 3080 Founder's Edition in stock at $699 USD, it does even deliver the best performance-per-dollar in this Steam Play title.
HITMAN 2 is another game running on Linux via Steam Play. Here the RTX 3080 delivered 48% higher frame-rates than the RTX 2080 SUPER and a healthy 19% improvement over the TITAN RTX.
The RTX 3080 for HITMAN 2 was peaking still at 320 Watts but healthy power efficiency with the level of performance being achieved by Ampere.
