The Sandy Bridge Core i7 3960X Benchmarked Against Today's Six-Core / 12 Thread AMD/Intel CPUs
Today's six-core / twelve-thread processors were across the board much faster than the aging Core i7 3960X.
Even with Perl script performance, the Ryzen 5 3600X and Core i7 8700K were much faster than Sandy Bridge.
One area where the Intel performance hasn't improved much is the context switching speed, which is much higher now as a result of all the Spectre/Meltdown/Zombieload/etc mitigations.
