LuxCoreRender benchmark with settings of Scene: Rainbow Colors and Prism, Acceleration: CPU. Ubuntu 24.04 + Linux 6.10 was the fastest.

With the LuxCoreRender open-source 3D physically based renderer, it depended upon the model used whether Linux was able to outperform the stock Windows 11.

Blender benchmark with settings of Blend File: BMW27, Compute: CPU-Only. Ubuntu 24.04 + Linux 6.10 was the fastest.

With the Blender 3D modeling software, Ubuntu slightly outperformed Windows 11. We're used to seeing Blender on Linux perform much faster than Windows, so this isn't unexpected but often it's by a wider margin.

OSPRay benchmark with settings of Benchmark: particle_volume/ao/real_time. Ubuntu 24.04 + Linux 6.10 was the fastest.
OSPRay benchmark with settings of Benchmark: particle_volume/scivis/real_time. Ubuntu 24.04 + Linux 6.10 was the fastest.
OSPRay benchmark with settings of Benchmark: particle_volume/pathtracer/real_time. Windows 11 was the fastest.

OSPRay benchmark with settings of Benchmark: gravity_spheres_volume/dim_512/pathtracer/real_time. Ubuntu 24.04 + Linux 6.10 was the fastest.

With the OSPRay ray-tracing engine from Intel, the results were also quite close and competitive between these operating systems.

OSPRay Studio benchmark with settings of Camera: 1, Resolution: 4K, Samples Per Pixel: 1, Renderer: Path Tracer, Acceleration: CPU. Ubuntu 24.04 + Linux 6.10 was the fastest.
OSPRay Studio benchmark with settings of Camera: 2, Resolution: 4K, Samples Per Pixel: 1, Renderer: Path Tracer, Acceleration: CPU. Ubuntu 24.04 + Linux 6.10 was the fastest.
OSPRay Studio benchmark with settings of Camera: 3, Resolution: 4K, Samples Per Pixel: 1, Renderer: Path Tracer, Acceleration: CPU. Windows 11 was the fastest.

With OSPray Studio the results are also much slower than we typically see in our Windows vs. Linux benchmarking comparisons.
