Windows 10 October 2018 Update Performance Against Ubuntu 18.10, Fedora 29
In the Java-based DaCapo benchmarks, Windows 10 with the October 2018 Update did score a first place finish coming in slightly faster than the April update while Intel's Clear Linux managed to squeeze in for a second place finish.
But in the other Java DaCapo benchmarks, Windows 10 was performing towards the back of the group.
In the very basic Fhourstones test written in C, Intel's Clear Linux had a narrow advantage over the other Linux distributions and Windows 10.
Clear Linux was also the fastest in the Crafty chess benchmark while openSUSE Tumbleweed pulled in right behind Windows 10 as the slowest.
Under the 7-Zip compression test, Debian 9.5 and Manjaro were tied for a narrow first place finish while Ubuntu 18.04.1 LTS was in the last spot by a few points with Windows 10 performance sitting among the Linux distributions on this Intel Core i7 system.
