Counter-Strike: Global Offensive is one of the most exciting Steam Linux game releases of recent times... AMD is said to be working on a new driver update due out soon that will improve CS:GO on Linux given that the game made its penguin gaming debut just a few weeks back. However, the R9 285 does a decent job right now running CS:GO at 4K. The Radeon R9 285 performance was coming in at about the speed of an R9 270X, which in turn was a couple frames faster than the GeForce GTX 760.

With the open-source Tesseract Linux game, the AMD Catalyst performance overall is very poor... The Radeon R9 290 gets beat out by the GeForce GTX 760 and for the Radeon R9 285 it comes in at the same speed as a GeForce GTX 750 Ti.

When pushing Tesseract up to 3840 x 2160, the Radeon R9 285 with the Catalyst Linux driver at least does comparatively better against the NVIDIA Linux driver to put it closer to the GeForce GTX 760 while the Radeon R9 290 is up to the GTX 770 performance level.
