Linux vs. BSD CPU Scaling Up To 20 Threads On The Core i9 7900X

This is a look at the time needed to compile the Apache web server and this test profile does automatically adjust the job count based upon the number of available threads. Fedora 26 and TrueOS stable were competing with eachother for the fastest compile performance. Intel's Clear Linux was the slowest but to not much surprise considering by default they set aggressive CFLAGS/CXXFLAGS for trying to generate the fastest binaries.

The results were close when comparing the time needed to build the Linux kernel.

FreeBSD 11.1 with LLVM Clang 4.0 was the fastest for compiling the Linux kernel.
