With Intel's OSPray renderer we were seeing some very surprising yet reproducible gains with Ice Lake. In this case, it appears to be due to OSPray having AVX-512 optimizations and doing quite well there in regards to tuning and with the Core i7-1065G7 finally having Advanced Vector Extensions 512.

Though with Intel's Embree that also has AVX-512 optimizations, its performance was largely unchanged.

Intel's Open Image Denoise meanwhile was another Intel software workload that does have AVX-512 optimizations and where the Ice Lake Dell XPS 7390 performance was much better than the other processors tested. Embree, Open Image Denoise, and OSPray are among the components making up Intel's forthcoming oneAPI graphics toolkit and hence why we've been ramping up tests of them recently.

Through these tests there wasn't much of a power consumption or thermal difference between the three Dell XPS laptops.
