Intel Core i9 9900K Linux Benchmarks - 15-Way Intel/AMD Comparison On Ubuntu 18.10

The Intel Core i9 9900K for our launch-day testing was paired with the ASUS PRIME Z390-A, 2 x 8GB DDR4-3200 Corsair memory, Radeon RX 580, and Samsung 970 EVO 256GB NVMe solid-state drive. Ubuntu 18.10 was used for this round of benchmarks in its near-final pre-release state with the Linux 4.18 kernel, GCC 8.2, and an EXT4 file-system.

As usual, all of our comparison test systems were re-benchmarked using this same software stack for seeing how a wide assortment of hardware is performing on Ubuntu 18.10 with the Linux 4.18 kernel. For this Linux CPU benchmarking the other comparison test systems used included:

In this article is a look at the Core i9 9900K performance in a wide variety of Linux workloads both single-threaded and multi-threaded. Beyond the raw performance results for this testing are also performance-per-Watt and performance-per-dollar metrics too. All of this Intel/AMD Linux benchmarking was handled in a fully-automated and reproducible manner using the open-source Phoronix Test Suite benchmarking software.
