First up were some Golang benchmarks where we see the i9-9900K immediately pulling ahead of the Ryzen 7 2700X and not being too far behind the 10C/20T Core i9 7900X processor.

Or in the case of the Go build test that is single-threaded, the Core i9 9900K comes in line with the Core i7 8086K processor that also has a turbo frequency hitting 5.0GHz. Here the AMD performance comes in sharply behind current-generation Intel parts.

In the Java-based DaCapo benchmark, the 9900K does very well and even ahead of the Threadripper 2950X.

With some crypto tests using John The Ripper, the Core i9 9900K is 18% faster than the Ryzen 7 2700X and 33% faster than the Core i7 8700K.

Or in John The Ripper's DES test, the i9-9900K comes in at about the same speed as the 2700X.

But in MD5 performance is where the 9900K pulls ahead with a 14% lead over the 2700X.
