In code compilation tasks the Core i5 13600K was performing very well. The Core i5 13600K being a 20-thread model thanks to doubling of the E cores over the Core i5 12600K obviously pays off for Linux code compilation performance when involving parallel jobs. The Core i5 13600K compile-time performance was most often similar to the Ryzen 9 5950X and a very sizable generational leap over the i5-12600K. The Core i5 13600K also outperformed even the $399 AMD Ryzen 7 7700X with it being a 16 thread processor.

The Core i5 13600K while compiling Gem5 had an average power draw of 111 Watts and a peak of 138 Watts, which was higher than the Ryzen 7 7700X at 102 Watts and a peak of 122 Watts.

Thanks to the four extra E cores with the Core i5 13600K, this $319~329 processor is in much better shape generationally over Alder Lake and also coming out ahead of the $399 USD Ryzen 7 7700X if frequently compiling code in a threaded manner / multiple jobs.

In fact, of these latest AMD and Intel processors, the Core i5 13600K was delivering the best performance-per-dollar across these compile benchmarks.
