Across a range of HPC benchmarks on these desktop CPUs, there were some nice wins for the Core i9 13900K with some of the workloads while in other cases the Ryzen 9 7900 series performed much better. So it largely depends upon the workloads most relevant to your own use.

But the power consumption of the Core i9 13900K in these demanding high performance computing benchmarks was much higher than the other tested processors.

With LAMMPS and using the 20k atoms model, the Core i9 13900K did match the Ryzen 9 7950X in performance but at 1.27x the power consumption.
