The overall AC power consumption for each of these systems was monitored by a USB-based WattsUp Pro power meter. Again, no thermal results are available for coretemp not reporting the temperatures on the tested kernel configuration.

The Pentium G3258 when running Xonotic with ultra quality settings led to an average power consumption of 56 Watts or 64 Watts when overclocked to 4.4GHz. On a performance-per-Watt basis, the Core i3/i5/i7 Haswell CPUs were still delivering better performance.

During the demanding task of building the Linux kernel, the Pentium G3528 at 3.2GHz had an average system power consumption of 57 Watts but it soared to 85 Watts when overclocked to 4.4GHz. While the Pentium G3258 was delivering better performance-per-Watt over the Core i3 4130, the Core i5 and i7 CPUs were still delivering the best power efficiency.
