12-Way AMD Catalyst 14.12 vs. NVIDIA 346 Series Linux GPU Comparison

With ultimate image quality settings, the Radeon R9 290 remained running closest to the GeForce GTX 760 on the NVIDIA side when testing these latest proprietary drivers on Ubuntu 14.10.

The synthetic GiMark test of GpuTest showed the Radeon R9 270X actually performing better than the R9 285 Tonga and R9 290 Hawaii graphics cards. The NVIDIA GPUs though topped out at a faster rate.

The Radeon R9 290 scored a victory against all of the graphics cards -- including the GeForce GTX 980 -- with the synthetic Plot3D test of GpuTest.
