With Counter-Strike 2 at 4K there was no measurable performance difference for the three tested RTX 40 graphics cards whether running on the open kernel driver or sticking to the proprietary driver.

There was no real difference in the GPU power consumption either when swapping out the kernel driver.

DiRT Rally 2.0 running on Linux via Steam Play was also in good shape with either R500 kernel driver.

The overall GPU power consumption during gaming also showed no real difference when switching to the open kernel driver. Also notable is during the brief periods of idle the GPU power consumption when using the open driver was lower than the proprietary driver.

Using the new NVIDIA R550 driver with the open kernel driver was smooth sailing during the gaming benchmarks.
