AMDGPU vs. Radeon DRM On Linux 4.13 For AMD GCN 1.0/1.1 GPUs
So long story short, the Radeon R9 270X / R7 370 still suffer from slower performance if making use of the experimental GCN 1.0 support in AMDGPU. The Radeon R9 290 meanwhile performs better with AMDGPU in the special case of this R9 290 Hawaii having at times suffered from a major performance regression on Radeon DRM and seems back again with Linux 4.13. With the other tested hardware, there wasn't any big performance differences. As a reminder, the Vulkan support was only working out well on the tested hardware with GCN 1.1+ GPUs on RADV.
