On a meta performance-per-Watt basis for all of the tests carried out, the AMD EPYC CPUs were doing much better than the Xeon Cascade Lake setups in their similarly equipped system with a similar motherboard and the same RAM / storage / PSU.

Here is a look at the overall AC system power consumption for each of the systems during the span of tests carried out.

Here is a look at the geometric mean across all of the benchmarks carried out from these three Xeon Cascade Lake and four EPYC Rome processors on Ubuntu 20.04 development + Linux 5.5.

It was a wide range of benchmarks carried out while in this article were just the most interesting takes.

The performance-per-Watt between these two similarly configured server platforms were quite interesting.

The EPYC 7302 at just over one thousand dollars was at the front the far majority of the time for the best value of the CPUs tested.

More EPYC and Xeon benchmarks as the April release of Ubuntu 20.04 LTS inches closer.
