While the Unigine Engine hasn't ended up being used by any hit Linux games, Valley remains a very interesting OpenGL test case. With the latest Catalyst driver, the Radeon R9 290 runs around the same speed as the GeForce GTX 680. Among the NVIDIA graphics cards, the GTX 960 and higher could deliver above 60 FPS averages at 1920 x 1080 while the GeForce GTX TITAN X broke nearly 100 FPS.

Xonotic is one of the more demanding open-source games to date. With this game, the AMD hardware became CPU bound around ~140 FPS, while the NVIDIA Linux driver with the latest Kepler/Maxwell GPUs could reach nearly 200 FPS. With the open or closed-source drivers and any half-decent graphics processor, Xonotic is a playable game, especially at 1080p.

For kicks, here's the Furmark results via GpuTest. At least here the AMD Catalyst Linux results are not shockingly troubled like some of the other OpenGL test cases.
