The Core i7 1280P was delivering great Zstd compression/decompression performance for this increasingly common compression algorithm from Facebook/Meta.

But for workloads threading well like JPEG-XL and other image encoding tasks, the Core i7 1280P tended to fall behind the Ryzen 9 5900HX and in some cases even the Ryzen 7 PRO 5850U too.

On a performance-per-Watt basis, the AMD Ryzen 7 PRO 5850U and even the older 5500U/4700U SoCs were delivering better power efficiency.

LuaRadio and srsRAN for software-defined radio open-source projects saw quite mixed performance out of the Core i7 1280P on Ubuntu 22.04 LTS with Linux 5.18.
