With Intel's OSPRay ray-tracing engine that makes effective use of AVX-512, the Xeon Platinum 8490H performance was matching the EPYC 9554 64-core processors. A single 8490H was matching two 8380 processors and going from the 8380 2P to 8490H 2P configuration yielded 75% higher performance.

The OSPRay performance-per-Watt for the 8490H was less compelling at "just" a 37% improvement but at least competitive to Genoa.

Similarly, the Xeon Platinum 8490H was performing competitively to the 64-core Genoa CPU with the OSPRay Studio interactive visualization software and much faster than the prior generation Xeon Scalable processors.

For ASTC texture compression the Xeon Platinum 8490H 2P was 1.79x the speed of its predecessor.
