The AI-powered LC0 chess benchmark saw great performance with the Xeon Platinum 8490H and had no troubles at all competing with and outperforming several of the Genoa SKUs.

But on a performance-per-Watt basis the LC0 results were less compelling but at least still a significant upgrade over Ice Lake.

Intel's oneDNN neural network library was showing terrific performance uplift from Ice Lake and now competing with the top-end Genoa SKUs thanks to oneDNN enabling AMX use with Sapphire Rapids.

Intel's oneDNN library in turn is used by the likes of ONNX, OpenVINO, PaddlePaddle, PyTorch, TensorFlow, Apache MXNet, and other AI software that in turn will enjoy better performance with 4th Gen Xeon Scalable.

Both generationally and against the AMD EPYC 9004 series, the Xeon Platinum 8490H was a standout performer for AI workloads.

But the power consumption with the Xeon Platinum 8490H easily surpassed the other tested processors.
