Lastly for those interested is a look at the NVIDIA GPU compute performance generationally. OpenCL / ROCm benchmarks where compatible will be coming up in their own comparison article along with something special next month while in this article is looking at primarily the NVIDIA CUDA / OptiX performance as well as some OpenCL benchmarks.

Blender benchmark with settings of Blend File: Pabellon Barcelona, Compute: NVIDIA OptiX. RTX 4090 was the fastest.
Blender benchmark with settings of Blend File: Barbershop, Compute: NVIDIA OptiX. RTX 4090 was the fastest.

Even from the RTX 20 series, the RTX 40 series has come quite far in advancing the OptiX ray-tracing performance with Blender.

Chaos Group V-RAY benchmark with settings of Mode: NVIDIA CUDA GPU. RTX 4090 was the fastest.
Chaos Group V-RAY benchmark with settings of Mode: NVIDIA RTX GPU. RTX 4090 was the fastest.
Chaos Group V-RAY benchmark with settings of Mode: NVIDIA RTX GPU. RTX 4090 was the fastest.

The RTX 4080 SUPER performance was very similar to the RTX 4080 with the V-RAY benchmarks while at least the RTX 4070 SUPER was showing some nice gains over the RTX 4070. With the V-RAY renderer the RTX 4070 SUPER was matching the RTX 3090 level of performance.

IndigoBench benchmark with settings of Acceleration: OpenCL GPU, Scene: Supercar. RTX 4090 was the fastest.
IndigoBench benchmark with settings of Acceleration: OpenCL GPU, Scene: Bedroom. RTX 4090 was the fastest.

With IndigoBench the RTX 4070 SUPER performance was again matching the prior generation flagship with the GeForce RTX 3090.
