AMD EPYC 9684X Genoa-X Provides Incredible HPC Performance
The EPYC 9684X was also showcasing its great HPC performance potential across the spectrum of HPC benchmarks. The Xeon Max 9480 2P in HBM-only mode did enjoy nice uplift over the HBM caching mode but at 56 cores wasn't enough -- with the exception of the MG test case -- to compete in these threaded benchmarks against the 96-core flagship EPYC Genoa(X) CPUs.
The new EPYC 9684X and EPYC 9754 processors were performing well with the OpenVINO AI benchmarks. While at a lower core count to AMD, the Sapphire Rapids CPUs with OpenVINO do have more competition on AMD thanks to the software being able to leverage Advanced Matrix Extensions (AMX) found with 4th Gen Xeon Scalable processors.
