AMD EPYC 9684X Genoa-X Provides Incredible HPC Performance
For the PetSc (Portable, Extensible Toolkit for Scientific Computation) streams benchmark, the HBM2e does wonders with very great uplift out of the Xeon Max 9480 processors.
For large code-bases like Node.js and the Linux kernel, the EPYC 9684X delivered leading performance albeit by slim margins. The Genoa-X processors can work well for building code quickly but isn't their principal purpose.
When compiling smaller code-bases like Godot and PHP that exert less memory pressure on the system, the Xeon Max 9480 2P in HBM-only mode did manage to shoot up to first place.
In these timed code compilation cases though the Xeon Sapphire Rapids processors were consuming more power.
The EPYC 9684X processors saw some small gains with the srsRAN Project software defined radio software suite for 5G.
